Lisa Matway

Art, for Lisa Matway, is a personal journey, akin to the personal journey her husband, Jerry Overton, is on as he navigates Parkinson’s disease.  Her art is an exploration of emotion, movement, and the deeper undercurrents of human experience. Through her artwork, Lisa invites observers on a journey of reflection and introspection, using bright, positive colors and bold, abstract strokes to spark a dialogue around movement, fluidity, rhythm, and balance. Her art is a dance of blended colors and volatile lines that challenges and rewards viewers, allowing them to bring their own feelings and experiences to each interpretation.

Each piece serves as a bridge between the tangible and the abstract, favoring a scene with a distinct focal point that's set within an abstract representation.  Lisa’s work is crafted to be both a mirror and a window for her audience—a mirror reflecting each person's emotions back to them, and a window offering new perspectives on rhythm and balance amidst life's experiences.

Lisa and Jerry founded modart4pd (matway overton design art 4 Parkinson’s disease), a creative initiative dedicated to supporting the Parkinson’s community. Proceeds from every artwork sold go toward research and programs benefiting individuals living with Parkinson’s and the caregivers who walk beside them.
