Mara Dora

Tamara Doroshenko (Mara Doro) is an artist-experimenter hailing from Ukraine who currently lives in Nokomis, Florida. Mara and her 12-year-old son fled the Ukraine and came to the United States in October of 2022.  

Tamara was born and spent her childhood in the ancient city of Lviv in the west of Ukraine. She got her master’s degree at the Moscow State University of Technology and Design. Mara has the remarkable gift of synesthesia, a sensory experience where colors, shapes, and sounds intertwine. This allows her to infuse her work with a mesmerizing blend of colors, forms, and emotions.

 Mara’s style follows the modernist expressionist tradition. "My art seeks harmony in the chaos of everyday life, it is my way out of the ordinary, it is a journey into the world of the unknown." Tamara recalls the time when she left her successful business to start painting. "Lines intertwined with sounds, erupting sensations that fetched away onto the canvas. I couldn't resist it."  Her paintings began to capture the attention of art connoisseurs and private collectors in Ukraine and Poland.

“My art seeks harmony in chaos. The act of creation for me is an exploration of the frontier. A stepping out of the familiar. It is a journey through chaos into an unexplored world full of fear, horror, indignation, and delight.

 This world is not structured by any notion of beauty and form. I immerse myself and the viewer into the chaos through my abstract art. By means of lines and compositions, rich colors, and sharp contrasts I help disown conventional forms, and together we go through the initiation.”Along this path I use abstract music as a guide. Following the doctrine of synesthesia, introduced by European expressionist modernists Munch, Kandinsky, Marc, Kirchner.
