Rita Schwab

Born and raised in Heidelberg, Germany, Rita Schwab immigrated to the United States in 1973, where she obtained a Bachelor of Fine Art from the University of South Florida, (Tampa, FL) and a Masters of Fine Art in Surface Design from FSU, in Tallahassee, FL.

A self-employed studio artist since the 1980’s, and residing in Englewood, FL, Rita keeps an outdoor studio which is surrounded by her gardens; her inspiration.

“I am a mixed-media abstract painter. I like to work large, feeling the painting before visualizing it. I have stepped beyond boundaries of representation and expectations.”

“Space is defined by texture, transparency, and the freedom of flow. I work dynamic, free, and swift. Color reaches a subconscious depth, the surface is nonlinear, and layers create 3-D perception. I use natural elements to create a 3-D effect. I feel my work is spirit guided. The goal is to release control and surrender to the challenge.”
