Wim Vernauwen

Born and raised in Belgium, Wim Vergauwen is a self taught artist. Arriving in the US in 1994 to work as a Physical Therapist in the Orlando area, Wim started painting to “fill up the walls in his physical therapy practice.”

“I find inspiration in nature and through travel. In my paintings I try to reflect my passion for the beauty of the earth’s creations.”

Wim received much of his talent from his beloved mother, who recently passed away in February of 2024. She was a renowned artist in Belgium, specializing in life size sculptures and water color paintings.

Wim experimented painting on dried seed pods from the queen palm. Using them as a canvas, he noticed one of them resembled a wave. He then painted a dolphin playing and jumping in the waves. The experiment became a popular canvas with his patients and staff.

His patients enjoy looking forward to the next new seed pod on the wall.
